4 Ways to Protect Your Bearded Dragon from Burns

One of the most common injuries to a pet bearded dragon is burns. Burns typically come from the artificial heat sources needed to keep the lizard home in its environment.

Although supply proper heat is important for the bearded dragons health, there is a danger of it getting burns from the heat sources.

Here are some ways to protect your bearded dragon from burns.

Use a Screen Cover to Protect Your Bearded Dragon

Protect Your Bearded Dragon from Burns

Place a wire mesh screen cover between your bearded dragon’s terrarium and the heat bulbs. The bearded dragon can easily climb up and accidentally come in contact with the heat bulbs. These heat bulb can get extremely hot causing severe burns.

A quality wire mesh screen cover will prevent the lizard from being able to access the bulbs and will also prevent it from being able to escape from the terrarium.

Avoid Using Heat Rocks

Heat rocks are one of the most common sources of burns for captive raised bearded dragons. The heat rocks contain a heating element that is not temperature regulated and can reach very hot temperatures.

This leads to burns on the belly and hind legs of the bearded dragon. Some of these burns can be very severe and even lead to death.

Do not use heat rocks or heat caves for supplying heat! These devices are known to possibly cause severe burns to bearded dragons and other reptile pets.

If you need to supplement underneath heat in the terrarium use an under tank heat mat. They are much safer to use because the reptile does not come into contact with it.

Use Appropriate Heat Lamps

Make sure you use the correct heat lamp wattage for the size of terrarium you own. Don’t use a 150 watt heat lamp for a 20 gallon terrarium, for instance.

That heat lamp is much too hot for that sized terrarium. The heat bulb will be in close proximity to the bearded dragon and that could cause mild burns.

If you are unsure what size bulb best fits your terrarium ask your local reptile veterinarian, or pet store for assistance.

Inspect for Faulty Wiring

With so many electrical devices needed to keep the bearded dragon healthy and happy, a shorted wire could happen sometimes.

Make sure to inspect all electrical devices before using them. A shorted electrical wire can easily burn, or shock your bearded dragon, or yourself. A faulty device could also lead to house fires.

Never use equipment that is in bad condition and always repair or replace any electrical device.

This could mean a safer environment for you and your pet!

There is a countless number of people who participate in online games
each day, and many of those people would admit to how addictive these games
can be. Remember that each level gets harder and harder
and will have to be even faster in the fight with the zombies.
The interesting part of this game is that you have the option to either play solo or opt for
multiple players. Different vendors provide different variety for the game.
“Hopefully we are proving that games like ours can coexist with games like Assassin’s Creed, Valiant Hearts and Candy Crush or whatever else. This type of thinking evolved video games, which are very popular among everyone and excites everybody. The player with the most money at the end of the game is the winner. Time spent entertaining oneself in front of the screen is okay sometimes–just not all the time.
